About Me
ONE OF A KIND 2 WOOD BOWLS
Specializing in WOOD BOWLS
|

I live in Braselton, Georgia. I have been turning wood since Jan. 2006. I have always
loved working with wood, just never had the opportunity of turning until my wife
surprised me with a lathe for Christmas, and once I started I was truly addicted. I am a
self taught wood turner, with my own unique style. I love the feel of the fresh green
shavings curling off my tool, the smell, the sound of the wood being turned, and the way
the wood begins to look as I take a piece, bark intact and begin to turn it. I never know
what I will create, until I place the wood on the lathe and with each turn, and stroke of
the tool; the grain, the shape, and the inner character begins to reveal itself to me, as I
only enhance this beauty that is hiding inside. Every turned piece is the natural color of
the wood itself, no coloring is ever added, only the natural beauty revealed. I gain much
pleasure from watching others enjoy my work, by picking it up and feeling it through the
sense of touch, smelling the wood, or simply enjoying the look of each finished piece.
Wood collected and destined for the lathe is from local trees (Northeast Ga. Area) that
were felled due to wind, disease, or urban development. No tree is ever taken for the
sole purpose of this craft.
It is my intention as each piece is turned to give back some of NATURES beauty as a
permanent reminder for generations to come, of how fertile and yet fragile she is , and
that it is bestowed upon each of us the obligation to help preserve her for our grand
children's' grandchildren to still enjoy. Each finished piece is truly "One of a kind 2",
since each piece of wood possesses a beauty, and character all its own.
